Important Information 2020 Season
Posted Mar 16, 2020

Dear PSC Members,

This evening, Governor Dunleavy has extended the school closure through Friday, May 1st. This will include all Activities and Facility Use.  PSC uses school gyms to facilitate the Indoor Soccer season.  With this new guidance PSC must cancel their Indoor Soccer season.

PSC will provide full refunds for all indoor registrations.

PSC will continue to plan for an outdoor soccer season and summer camp.  We will send out information for our outdoor season over the next few weeks.

Thank you for your patience and support in these unusual times.

Looking forward to a great outdoor soccer season.

PSC Board Members

PSC Membership,

Like other Non-Profit organizations working in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough we must operate within the restrictions placed upon us during the COVID-19 outbreak by federal, state and local government response and guidance.  Currently the Matanuska-Susitna Borough School Distract (MSBSD) Facility Community use (i.e. gyms), are cancelled through March 30, 2020. The Matanuska-Susitna Borough Government has closed facilities/buildings through March 31, 2020.  And Alaska Youth Soccer Association (AYSA), which we are an affiliated league, has suspended all soccer activities (e.g. league games, practices, friendlies, clinics, etc.) through March 29, 2020.  With the above guidance, PSC is evaluating our upcoming Indoor Soccer Season.  PSC will re-schedule the March 22nd, Futsal Referee training to meet current guidance.  PSC will re-schedule the March 28th Saturday practice/game day to meet current guidance. PSC will continually monitor guidance provided by higher authorities and its impact on the upcoming Indoor Soccer Season. We ask that all be patient as well as vigilant. We live in a very dynamic and fluid time. Your safety and the safety of your family is our number one concern. Please read, as well, the attached guidance from AYSA.

Re: Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Date: March 13, 2020

In concern for the wellbeing and safety of our players, coaches, officials, and their families, Alaska Youth Soccer has been closely monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Following recommendations from US Soccer, US Youth Soccer, State and local health officials, and the CDC with the heightened travel concerns, and with the health and welfare of our soccer community in mind, AYSA is suspending all soccer activities and sanctioned events beginning immediately through March 29 at which time we will reevaluate our state situation and decide week at a time until we can get back to full play.

All clubs and leagues will be asked to honor this suspension of activity immediately. This includes all league games, practices, friendlies, clinics, trainings, coaching education courses, and any other activities that would cause our players, families, officials and staff to gather in close proximity. At this time, we also recommend suspension of any out of state travel, for more information please contact our office directly.

AYSA understands this is an unprecedented action, and it is not one that we would take without considerable thought and realize the potential impact on leagues, clubs, teams and families. Alaska Youth Soccer highest priority is ensuring to provide a healthy and safe environment for activity within our soccer programs, as well as that of the community at large.

Alaska Youth Soccer would like to thank our Alaska Soccer Community for your ongoing support as we manage our programming given the current health and travel environment.

Alaska Youth Soccer will provide continued communication with our leagues and clubs as a priority as more information becomes available, we sincerely appreciate your attention to this matter.

The state office will remain operational throughout this difficult time and will be available to assist members as needed. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions,

Linda Burke

AYSA Executive Director
